‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Luke 10:27
RTPTCA Samaritan Group ministry focuses primarily on families within our congregation. Other than welcoming new members to RTPTCA family, the main purpose of the ministry is to provide relief, comfort, support and above all, be a good neighbor!
Primarily the ministry will help individuals and families with some of the day to day life’s challenges. The main focus but not limited to, will be assisting families adjusting to a new place, birth of a child, illness, surgery or any uneventful situations, provide meals, run small errands, transportation or sometimes just offer a listening ear and few kind words! We are aware the needs may vary but the mission is to provide relief, comfort and support, in effect be a good Samaritan!
Who is my neighbor?
A good Samaritan! A good Samaritan is somebody who offers help to a person in need. Busy schedules and day today life’s challenges make it a struggle to devote time to the needy, but if everyone makes effort to do just a little bit of what they can do, it can go a long way!
As Mother Theresa rightly said:
“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But if the drop was not in the ocean, I think the ocean would be less because of the missing drop”.
How will it work?
Any individual/family can approach a member of the Samaritan group; After discussing, the Samaritan group will either, address to the need themselves or direct it to a volunteer (s) on a case by case basis. If the individual/ family wants to keep their needs discreet, Samaritan group will respect their request.
(Limitations: situations involving legal issues will be avoided)
Who can be a volunteer?
How can I help?
If a needy family or individual happens to reside near you, or you are in a position to help with their needs, the Samaritan Group after consulting you, can direct the individual/family to you.
